The HAP Standard Review: Latest Update
Over the past few months, the Secretariat and member agencies have been collecting feedback on the HAP 2007 Standard and suggestions for improving the 2010 Standard.
Through forms and surveys available on our website, we received feedback from over 100 organisations. During the same period, Standard Review consultation meetings took place in Bangladesh, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Norway, Senegal, Sri Lanka and Uganda. Over 30 representatives of disaster-affected communities and 150 staff from HAP members and their local partners contributed to the HAP 2010 Standard during these events. Thanks go to the COAST Trust, the Bangladesh ECB country consortium, OFADEC, Muslim Aid and the Norwegian Church Aid for their support in organising the sessions.
For the remainder of 2009, consultation workshops are scheduled as follows:
• 1-5 December, community-based consultation in Limuru, Kenya, hosted by PMU InterLife. For details, please contact Coleen Heemskerk by email at cheemskerk@hapinternational.org
• 10 December, inter-agency consultation in Islamabad, Pakistan, hosted by Church World Service Pakistan/Afghanistan. For information, please contact Naveed Mirza by email at: hapfocalperson@cwspa.org.pk
HAP Standard Review consultation meetings will continue in 2010 Georgia, India, Lebanon, Southern Sudan, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. Consultations are also tentatively scheduled to take place in Australia and the USA.
If would like to contribute to the review process but are not in a location where consultation workshops are planned, you may choose to:
• Contribute through our online surveys or completing a form that can be downloaded here: http://www.hapinternational.org/projects/standard/hap-standard/review/become-involved!.aspx . Survey completed before the end of November will be summarised and contribute to the first round of revision. Feedback received after 30 November 2009 but no later than 31 March 2010 will inform the final draft of the HAP 2010 Standard.
