Capacity building
Building capacity for greater humanitarian accountability
The HAP team provides advisory and capacity building support to member agencies in their efforts to comply with the principles of accountability through the HAP 2007 Standard and in moving towards certification.
This support may be offered to headquarters or field sites, for example through consultation with accountability focal people and managers, provision of targeted workshops, assistance with the Accountability Work Plan (an obligation of membership), baseline analyses, and the facilitation of peer support. Much of our capacity building services are offered as part of membership benefits, and additional services are available as negotiated.
HAP capacity building services are by necessity flexible and tailored on an individual basis to best support member agencies making the commitment to effect change within their organisations, whether it be modest adjustments or ambitious culture change.
HAP also offers educational and introductory consultations and presentations to non-member agencies and networks who are interested in learning more about humanitarian accountability and HAP, or who are preparing for a certification audit independent of membership.
