Transition to the 2010 Standard
With the release of the 2010 HAP Standard in Accountability and Quality Management on 31 January 2011, a 48-month transition period commenced. This means that on 31 January 2011, the 2010 edition of the HAP Standard replaced the 2007 edition. Organisations are now encouraged to apply the 2010 HAP Standard.
The HAP Secretariat will align relevant documentation to the 2010 HAP Standard and make it publicly available within six months after the release of the Standard. This includes:
- The Guide to the HAP Standard;
- The Guide to HAP Certification;
- The Organisation’s Guide to Baseline Analysis against the HAP Standard; and
- HAP Standard Self-assessment Kit for Organisations.
Until January 2012, HAP will offer services using both editions of the HAP Standard, depending on the demand of interested organisations. This includes baseline analyses and certifications.
Organisations that completed a baseline analysis against the 2007 HAP Standard in 2010 are encouraged to consult the HAP Secretariat if they would like to apply for certification with the 2010 HAP Standard before January 2012. The Secretariat will provide advice on the implications of the differences between the two editions and how the organisation can prepare for a certification audit against the 2010 HAP Standard.
After 31 January 2012, all services offered by HAP will be using the 2010 Standard, This covers HAP-facilitated baseline analyses and all HAP certifications, including new certifications and re-certifications by HAP or HAP-accredited bodies. Organisations certified to the 2007 HAP Standard will undergo mid-term certification audits against the 2007 Standard.
After 31 January 2015, certificates issued to the HAP 2007 Standard in Humanitarian Accountability and Quality Management will no longer be valid.
