*****************************************************

Since its adoption in January 2007, the HAP Standard has been used by NGOs and their partners, donors and host governments, communities and other civil society groups to measure, validate and improve humanitarian action. For the Standard to maintain its relevance and continue to drive improvements on accountability and quality management in the sector, it needs to reflect learning from its application to date, emerging good practice, changing expectations of relevant stakeholders and other system-wide developments.

Whether your agency is a HAP member or not, we want to hear from you! Individuals with first hand experience of humanitarian action or their representatives, staff from national and international NGOs, donors and host governments, UN agencies, quality and accountability initiatives, research institutions and other civil society organisations are all encouraged to share views and experiences with the HAP 2007 Standard in Humanitarian Accountability and Quality Management.

Below are options for becoming involved in the review process:

  • Complete our forms and online surveys, including on improving coherence between HAP and Sphere
  • Contact us and join the Reference Group
  • Facilitate a consultation meeting, including HAP-Sphere joint sessions
  • Host the HAP team for a consultation visit

The HAP Standard offers a useful way to distinguish good practice from good rhetoric in the humanitarian sector.
